A solo that was born from a moment of rupture, when I wrote - “sometimes I’m alive and sometimes I play dead”. I kept asking how I hold-on? What does holding-on looks or feels like? This solo is dedicated to the concept of ‘holding’ as a muscular-emotional act, taking time and embracing the aesthetics found in broken moments, both in body and spirit. It is an invitation to dedicate ourselves to observing what there is - a woman’s body on the floor, folds, falls, exists. Surrendering the unfolding deep tissues anatomies created with the floor, allowing a poem to be curved by details of body parts and memories. The body makes space for what is perceived as invisible, silent or still - Is it truly such? The gaze is invited to listen to shapes, to allow the effort, the shivering muscles to resonate. And being intimate with the question - What are we holding onto?
